RotoExperts: CFL Week 12 Fantasy Rankings

The Canadian Press

There is little need to refresh this page because, yes, the Week 12 rankings look different than they have much of the regular season.

Without question, the biggest change in the TSN CFL Fantasy football rankings comes at quarterback, where Ottawa’s Trevor Harris ($8,865) sits atop the rankings, while Edmonton’s Mike Reilly falls to third. Harris gets the benefit of taking on the Montreal defence that gave up 487 yards and 45 completions to the REDBLACKS pivot on August 11 while also getting receiver Greg Ellingson ($6,196) back on track. Reilly and the Eskimos visit the league’s best defence with a Mark’s Labour Day Weekend contest at the Stampeders, and while few would be surprised if Reilly put up big numbers, his $14,000 salary leaves him and his potential Fantasy users with a thin margin of error.

Hamilton’s Jeremiah Masoli ($10,145) is fourth leading into a Labour Day clash against the Argonauts. Masoli is second only to Reilly in passing yards, but has a disappointing 9-10 TD:INT margin that has flustered users throughout the season. On the other hand, Montreal’s Antonio Pipkin ($6,000) climbs to the sixth spot after his impressive showing in last week’s win over Toronto. He will get a chance to continue his run against Ottawa and could make Friday’s game a potential shootout.

At running back, Toronto’s James Wilder Jr. ($8,729) stays atop the rankings despite a disappointing 29-yard effort against the Alouettes last week. Wilder gets a good opportunity for redemption against a Hamilton run defence that is last in yards allowed per game and yards per carry, which is why Ottawa’s William Powell ($8,360) is second. Winnipeg do-all Andrew Harris ($9,553) stays at third for a second-straight week following his rough outing against the Stampeders and an equally daunting task against the Roughriders defence.

Calgary’s Don Jackson ($6,424) will merit consideration as the Stamps’ leading rusher faces an Eskimos defence that leads the league in rushing majors allowed. With Terry Williams ($4,420) becoming more focused on return duties, Jackson has upside when Calgary gets into the red zone.

However, Jackson’s red zone touches could be limited by teammate Kamar Jorden ($9,596), who has scored majors in four of his last five games and now stands as the top receiver in the Week 12 rankings. Jorden comes off a 40.9 Fantasy point gem against Winnipeg and gets a juicy Labour Day matchup with Edmonton’s pass defence, which is eighth in giving up completions of 30 or more yards allowed. DaVaris Daniels ($6,250) is also a strong play, and either makes a good pairing with pivot Bo Levi Mitchell ($9,513), who has 11 touchdown passes in his last four games.

Edmonton’s duo of Derel Walker ($8,537) and D’haquille Williams ($8,158) are fourth and fifth, respectively, as they will garner more than enough Fantasy users who won’t be scared off by their matchup with the Calgary secondary.

Newly-acquired Argos receiver Duron Carter ranks 23rd this week at $3,777.

Defensively, the Roughriders ($5,742) remain in first place going into Sunday’s game against the Blue Bombers, who are second at $5,148. For the first time this season, facing the Alouettes won’t necessarily translate into success, with the REDBLACKS ranked fifth at $3,517.
