RotoExperts: CFL Week 7 Fantasy Rankings

(The Canadian Press)

The Eskimos are back, Andrew Harris is going to cost a lot and yes, Johnny Manziel is in the Week 7 rankings.

To the shock of few, Edmonton quarterback Mike Reilly ($14,000) and receiver Duke Williams ($7,309) are atop their respective positions after the Eskimos had Week 6 off. The duo will be expensive if drafted together yet each will be almost sure to deliver quality Fantasy point totals when they face the Alouettes on Thursday Night Football. The projected return of running back C.J. Gable ($6,378) gives Edmonton — and Fantasy players — a dual-threat back in the absence of BC’s Chris Rainey, while fellow Eskimos wideout Derel Walker ($7,195) will also be sought after.

The Alouettes will have a lot of attention, as newly-acquired quarterback Johnny Manziel ($7,000) stands the chance of making his regular season debut after he was dealt to Montreal in a blockbuster deal on Sunday afternoon. While Drew Willy ($5,528) is in front of Manziel in this week’s rankings, expectations are high that the former Heisman Trophy winner will see his share of snaps. The addition of Manziel also gives Alouettes receiver B.J. Cunningham ($5,128) a bit of bump up, as he is ranked 15th among receivers.

James Wilder Jr. will be hoping for a bounce-back performance in Week 7 when the Argos visit the Blue Bombers after -2 yards on the ground in Week 6. (Adam Gagnon, CFL.ca)

Harris, the league’s leading rushing at 610 yards, also leads the league with seven touchdowns and gets the opportunity to face a Toronto defence he ran through for 177 yards from scrimmage and two touchdowns in Saturday’s win against the Argonauts. He has rushed for over 100 yards in consecutive games and his penchant for finding the goal line has made Harris a steep $10,191 in salary.

Argos running back James Wilder Jr. ($7,983) will need to rebound after being held to -2 yards in last week’s loss to Winnipeg. His receiving skills are a plus, but the sophomore slump seems to have its grip on Toronto’s lead back at a time where the Toronto passing game has struggled to the point where S.J. Green ($5,739) barely cracks the Top 15 at receiver.

Calgary’s receiving duo of Eric Rogers ($8,101) and Kamar Jorden ($6,938) are ranked second and third, respectively as the two are meshing well with pivot Bo Levi Mitchell ($8,535) as they take on the Roughriders on Saturday night. Stampeders running back Don Jackson ($6,139) should still be enough of a bargain to invest in after he rushed for a season-low 46 yards in last week’s win over Montreal.

Defensively, Calgary remains the top unit to grab. The Stampeders ($6,300) are on a record pace in fewest points allowed per game and face a Saskatchewan offence that is still trying to find itself and has struggled to throw the ball. Edmonton ($3,552) is a value play as they are the defence that faces the Alouettes, who are averaging just over a touchdown per game.
