RotoExperts: CFL Week 4 Fantasy Rankings

The Canadian Press

The hottest receiver in TSN’s CFL Fantasy Football does play for the Eskimos, but it’s not Derel Walker.

Second-year wideout D’haquille Williams is atop the Week 4 receiving mountain after his 28.9 Fantasy points led all players in Week 3. Williams comes into Saturday evening’s game against the Argonauts in search of his third straight game of at least 20 FP and while he’s still sporting a reasonable salary of $4,959, Williams is rapidly shedding off the bargain status he owned at the start of the regular season.

Walker ($6,711) is right behind Williams in the rankings. The duo is 1-2 in receiving yardage after the first three weeks of the regular season and have produced four plays of better than 30 yards. Both will be highly used going into this Saturday’s game against the Argonauts, who return after an open date. Teammate Kenny Stafford is seventh, coming in with a bargain $3,937 salary.

Not to be outdone, Ottawa’s duo of Greg Ellingson ($7,419) and Diontae Spencer ($6,925) and the Hamilton quartet of Brandon Banks ($8,211), Jalen Saunders ($5,407), Luke Tasker ($6,268) and Terrence Toliver ($5,699) rank among the top 13 receivers in this week’s rankings.

At quarterback, Trevor Harris ($8,624) edges out Hamilton’s Jeremiah Masoli ($9,835) for the second spot behind Eskimos pivot Mike Reilly ($14,000). The back of the quarterback rankings is scattered with uncertainty with both Montreal and Saskatchewan bracing for the possibility of a new starter. Als starter Drew Willy ($6,069) was injured in Saturday’s win over the Roughriders, which could open the door for Jeff Mathews ($4,329) to get the starting nod against Ottawa, while Brandon Bridge ($5,341) could have his job pulled from him by rookie David Watford ($2,500).

Despite their early offensive struggles, Toronto’s James Wilder Jr. ($6,782) returns to the top of the running back rankings as he takes on an Edmonton team that has struggled against the run thus far. Eskimos back C.J. Gable ($6,618) is right behind Wilder, while William Powell of Ottawa and his $8,289 salary faces the Alouettes. Andrew Harris ($6,675) has been steady for the Blue Bombers and sits at fourth.

Although Montreal snapped their 14-game losing streak last week, it’s still a smart play to use the defence opposing them, which means Ottawa ($3,309) gets the top spot. It’s a coin toss between Hamilton’s ($3,799) improving unit and a Saskatchewan ($4,919) unit that will have to be the team’s anchor while the offence sorts out its issues.
