VANCOUVER — The BC Lions confirmed Tuesday that quarterback Travis Lulay has suffered a season-ending knee injury.
Lulay underwent an MRI on Monday to determine the extend of an injury suffered in the Lions’ 41-18 win over the Alouettes in Week 12. The Lion’s starting pivot suffered the injury in the first quarter and was replaced by Jonathon Jennings.
Jennings threw for 295 yards and two touchdowns on 22-of-29 passing in Lulay’s place, leading the Lions to a one-sided win to end a three-game losing streak.
While Jennings looks to regain his 2016 form, the injury is a tough break both for Lulay and the Lions. The former had just reclaimed the starting quarterback job from Jennings after overcoming a series of injuries and then serving as a backup in 2016.
Lulay will be placed on the club’s six-game injured list and will not return to action in 2017.
The Lions also announced Tuesday they’ve signed quarterback Mitchell Gale and offensive lineman Mitchell Van Dyke, both internationals.
The Lions, who moved to 6-5 at fourth place in the West, visit the Stampeders on Saturday, Sept. 16.
