HAMILTON — The Hamilton Tiger-Cats are a hard team to play against. The Hamilton Tiger-Cats in Hamilton? That’s a different level of hard to play against.

After two years of moving around, the Ticats finally moved into their permanent new digs at Tim Hortons Field last Labour Day to the tune of a 13-12 win over the hated rival Toronto Argonauts. In a way it was a win characterizing exactly what this team is all about — one that brings a blue-collar attitude that will outwork you in the trenches and win the tough battles.

Through six games at Tim Hortons Field, not including last year’s Eastern Final, playing the Ticats in Hamilton has brought along a different kind of challenge altogether. The Ticats have allowed 12.5 points per game; dominated in time of possession and second down conversions; taken advantage of penalties caused by crowd noise and, ultimately, worn teams down by the arrival of the fourth quarter

With a four-game road streak out of the way to open the season, nine of the next 13 games will be played in the Hammer against eight different teams. This is what those eight opponents have on their plate when they visit Tim Hortons Field:

It all starts on Monday with a marquee matchup against the Toronto Argonauts, one that could be an early decider in the outcome of the East Division standings this season.

Can the Ticats be defeated at Tim Hortons Field? If not, the road to the Grey Cup in the East may go through Hamilton.
