QB Scorecard and Starters: Lulay tops after big game

THE CANADIAN PRESS

Two quarterbacks stood out among the rest in Week 3. Travis Lulay showed he’s fully healed and ready to play at a high level once again. Meanwhile, Bo Levi Mitchell shook off a rather mediocre first two games to pace Calgary’s offence in a win over Toronto in Monday night football action. Six other pivots had impacts on outcomes in Week 3, so let’s get to the QB Scorecard and rank the performances.

1) Travis Lulay, Lions
Week 3 stats: 33-44, 404 yards, 3 TDs

BC’s red-headed QB was on fire late in the fourth and in overtime to help propel his team to a rather improbable comeback win.

2) Bo Levi Mitchell, Stampeders
Week 3 stats: 25-34, 303 yards, 2 TDs, 1 INT

Mitchell returned to form against Toronto. He engineered three straight touchdown drives in the second quarter to give Calgary the lead for good.

3) Kevin Glenn, Riders
Week 3 stats: 23-29, 271 yards, 2 TDs, 1 INT

Once again Glenn played well enough for Saskatchewan to get a win, but a Brett Smith fumble proved costly. The Riders’ starter has been very productive since stepping in for the injured Darian Durant.

4) Trevor Harris, Argos
Week 3 stats: 20-34, 223 yards, 2 TDs, 1 INT

No. 7 started strong for Toronto, but his accuracy was off and he faded in the second half.

5) Matt Nichols, Eskimos
Week 3 stats: 12-21, 212 yards, 3 TDs, 1 INT

Nichols didn’t have to win the game all on his own for Edmonton, but he made some impressive seam throws.

6) Drew Willy, Bombers
Week 3 stats: 20-29, 251 yards

It was a workmanlike effort from Willy in a Winnipeg ‘W’.

7) Rakeem Cato, Alouettes
Week 3 stats: 22-31, 317 yards, 2 INT

The rookie’s two interceptions led directly to 10 points for the opposition. You can’t giveaway scores like that in any football league.

8) Henry Burris, REDBLACKS
Week 3 stats: 20-36, 162 yards, 1 INT

Bad Hank’s pick-six on Ottawa’s second offensive series of the game was a poor start and Burris or his team weren’t able to recover at Commonwealth Stadium.
