TORONTO — As we get set to close the book on another year in the CFL, we look back on a season that featured no shortage of great highlights. From improbable comebacks and late-game dramatics to awe-inspiring moments, here is our list of 15 most memorable games in 2014:

15. Oct. 24, 2014 (Week 18) — Montreal 23, Ottawa 17

A late October clash between the Alouettes and REDBLACKS had less to do with any playoff implications than what had just happened off the field in both Saint-Jean-sur-Richelieu, Que. and the city of Ottawa. Canadian soldiers Nathan Cirillo and Patrice Vincent were killed that week in separate incidents, and on Friday night in the nation’s capital the country joined hands in mourning their deaths.

The REDBLACKS took an early lead and then rallied late to make it a close game, but couldn’t quite pull off the comeback in a 23-17 loss to the Alouettes. What will be remembered more, however, are images like the fans singing ‘O Canada’ and a pre-game ceremony that brought an entire stadium to a total stand-still.

Henry Burris rallying his REDBLACKS before the game is indicative of what this football game meant for the players, teams, fans and Canadians on that Friday night in October.
