TORONTO — The Semi-Finals are here, and so are the CFL.ca columnists with their picks! This weekend’s matchups could present two of the closest in recent memory, as the field is wide open for the four teams involved. All four playoff teams are either .500 or better, and the home team is poised to face a difficult challenge in both instances.
In Montreal, two teams known more for their defence will clash in a crossover battle between the Lions and the Als. Four of the game’s elite linebackers in Bear Woods, Chip Cox, Solomon Elimimian, and Adam Bighill go head-to-head, providing possible matchup nightmares for offensive coordinators. Yet there’s also no shortage of offensive playmakers on the offensive side of the ball, as the likes of Duron Carter and Emmanuel Arceneaux seek the bright playoff spotlight.
Roughly three hours later, the Edmonton Eskimos and Saskatchewan Roughriders will clash in the league’s hottest rivalry of late, as they meet for the fourth time in the last seven games. Matt Nichols and Kerry Joseph go under centre, and in a game with plenty up in the air, one thing remains certain: these teams do not like each other.
Our experts have Montreal and Edmonton, the two home teams, advancing after this weekend, as 9/12 have selected the Alouettes in the East and 8/12 are rolling with the Esks. Do you agree with their picks?
