After a last-second loss to the Winnipeg Blue Bombers last week, the Tiger-Cats look to get back in the win column on Friday night when they visit the B.C. Lions (10 p.m. / TSN / AM900 CHML). Friday night’s match up will be the Tiger-Cats second last road game versus a West Division opponent.
The Lions return home to B.C. Place on Friday on a high note, after a thrilling second half come-from-behind victory over the Calgary Stampeders in week 6.

After missing two weeks due to injury, Lawrence showed he was not hesitant to get back to work against the Bombers last week. The sure handed tackler compiled 10 defensive tackles, eight of which came in the first half, in his return against Winnipeg The second-year Tiger-Cat currently leads the team and ranks fifth in the CFL in defensive tackles with 26, an average of 8.6 tackles per game. His 26 defensive stops put him on pace to record 138 tackles and set a new club record. In the Tiger-Cats last trip to B.C., Lawrence had seven defensive tackles and a quarterback sack. |
Harris, who leads the league in yards from scrimmage (722), rushing (381) and ranks second among pass catches (341), has showcased his ability to be a reliable workhorse for the Lions. In four of the Lions six games this season, Harris has eclipses the 100-yard mark – 137 in week 1, 203 in week 2, 150 in week four, 143 in week six. In 2013, Harris was limited to just 129 yards in two games vs. the Tiger-Cats, an average of 64.5 yards per game. |
PLAYERS TO WATCH
WR Greg Ellingson: Second-year receiver Greg Ellingson returns to the Ticats lineup this week after being scratched in week’s 5 and 6. In 2013, Ellingson caught 15 passes for 205 yards and three touchdowns in two games vs. the B.C. Lions.
DB Emanuel Davis: Defensive back Emanuel Davis has quietly filled the stats sheet this season. In the last two games, Davis has recorded 11 of his 18 defensive tackles to rank him third among Ticats defenders.
RB C.J. Gable: Ticats running back C.J. Gable has shown his worth so far this season, being an asset of the both the Ticats running and passing games. Gable, who leads the Ticats in receiving yards (216), put together 298 combined yards and a touchdown vs. the Lions last season.
GAME NOTES
- The Tiger-Cats had three receivers record 100+ receiving yards the last time they played the B.C. Lions as Andy Fantuz (6 rec. 112 yds, 1 TD), Greg Ellingson (7 rec. 111 yds, 2 TDS) and C.J. Gable (6 rec. 108 yds, 1 TD) eclipsed the century mark.

Tiger-Cats linebacker Rico Murray has forced a turnover in all three games he has appeared in this season – two interceptions and a fumble recovery.

Last week Justin Medlock pinned Winnipeg inside their 20-yard line to start drives four times and once inside the 10. Medlock has pinned an opponent deep 15 times in 2014, tops in the CFL (inside 20). He is third in the CFL at 89% on 8-of-9 FG attempts.

Dan LeFevour is the only CFL quarterback that currently leads his team in rushing in 2014 – he has 169 yards on 33 rushes.

Simoni Lawrence has made an impact in all three games he has suited up in this year.
B.C. Lions RB Andrew Harris has raced out of the gate in 2014. The Canadian running back was honoured as the CFL’s Canadian Player of the Week for the third time after posting 143 combined yards and a touchdown on 18 touches last week.
