Ticats Battle Lions At Ivor Wynne This Friday

The Hamilton Tiger-Cats continue to battle for a playoff berth when they face the BC Lions in the second last game at Ivor Wynne Stadium this Friday, October 12.  Friday’s game, presented by Nissan, kicks off at 7:30 p.m.

Former running back Willie Bethea and linebacker Bob Krouse will see their names added to the Tiger-Cats Wall of Honour during a halftime ceremony.

Bethea spent eight years (1963-70) with the Ticats, rushing for the third-most rushing yards (3,919) and sixth-most rushing touchdowns (21) in team history.  He played an key role in the Ticats 1963, 1965 and 1967 Grey Cup championship teams and was named a East Division All-Star in 1967.

Krouse, a linebacker, played with the Ticats for 13 seasons, joining the team directly from Hamilton’s Central High School in 1963.  During his lengthy career, Krouse appeared in 174 games and helped the Black and Gold reach the Grey Cup final five times, earning championship rings in 1963, 1965, 1967 and 1972.  He was named an East Division All-Star in 1967.  His 174 regular season appearances rank ninth in Ticats history.
In addition to the Wall of Honour ceremony, marching bands from McMaster and Western will take part in a ‘battle of the bands’ performance at halftime.

To help raise awareness and raise funds to help tackle women’s cancers, Tiger-Cats players will wear pink accessories during Friday’s game as part of the CFL PINK campaign.  A portion of ticket sales will go to Hamilton Health Sciences, who will direct the funds to the Breast Assessment Centre of the Juravinski Hospital and Cancer Centre.

Fans are encouraged to donate gently-used winter coats to the stadium, where the Salvation Army will collect them at each entrance.  Fans will be treated to handouts from Vaseline Men upon exiting the stadium.
