Ticats Kick Off 2011 Season With 'Family Day' On Canada Day

TIGER-CATS KICK OFF 2011 SEASON WITH ‘FAMILY DAY’ ON CANADA DAY

There’s no better place for families to spend Canada Day than Ivor Wynne Stadium when the Hamilton Tiger-Cats open the regular season against the Winnipeg Blue Bombers this Friday.  Kickoff takes place at 6:00pm.

The fun for families begins before the game with two performances by world famous children’s television characters, The Backyardigans.  Uniqua, Pablo, Tyrone, Tasha and Austin will appear live in the TigerTown Fanzone (Brian Timmis Field) at 3:30pm and 4:30pm.  Admission to these performances is free with a ticket to the game.

The TigerTown Fanzone will also feature inflatable games for kids, a cheerleader photo booth, alumni autograph sessions, music, food and tons of fun for the entire family.

Before the game, fans will be treated to an impressive aerial display as parachuters from the Canadian Forces Search and Rescue Technicians will descend upon mid-field.  The enormous Canadian flag will also be unfurled prior to kickoff while the first 5,000 fans will be given Canadian flags, pins and posters.

At halftime, the team will pay tribute to a pair of Ticat legends.  Danny McManus, the team’s all-time leading passer, and Joe Montford, one of the greatest defensive players in the history of a franchise known for its stellar defence, will be honoured in recognition of their impending inductions into the Canadian Football Hall of Fame.

The gameday experience will also include the regular season debut of new public address announcer Mike Nabuurs, on-field performances by the cheerleaders, a live player interview at halftime and much, much more!

Fans can purchase tickets by calling 905-547-CATS (2287) or by visiting Ticats.ca.
