Arland Bruce III Extends Contract

ARLAND BRUCE III SIGNS EXTENSION

Hamilton, Ontario – The Hamilton Tiger-Cats announced today that all-star receiver Arland Bruce III has signed a new deal with the Ticats that will keep him in Hamilton through the 2012 season.

Bruce, a 5-11, 194-pound native of Olathe, Kansas, led the team with 86 receptions, 1,303 receiving yards and eight receiving touchdowns last season.  Since being acquired by the Ticats in a trade with the Toronto Argonauts on July 29, 2009, Bruce has recorded 160 receptions for 2,346 yards and 17 touchdowns.

“We’re excited to extend Arland’s contract, as he’s one of the top receivers in the league and has been a key part of our offence since arriving in Hamilton,” said General Manager Bob O’Billovich.  “Along from his performance on the field, his attitude and work ethic have also made him a positive addition to our organization.”

Bruce began his CFL career with the Winnipeg Blue Bombers in 2001.  After two seasons in Winnipeg and a year with the NFL’s San Francisco 49ers, the Minnesota product joined the Argonauts in 2004.  During his 10 seasons in the CFL, Bruce has caught 602 passes for 9,296 yards and 76 touchdowns in 142 career regular season games.  He’s been named an East Division All-Star five times and a CFL All-Star three times.
