Tiger-Cats Kick Off 2011 BeFit Program

TIGER-CATS KICK OFF 2011 ‘BEFIT’ COMMUNITY INITIATIVE

After a successful launch last year, the Hamilton Tiger-Cats, along with Marchese Health Care and Hamilton Partners in Nutrition, kicked off the Ticats 2011 BeFit community program today.

Agustin Barrenechea, Sandro DeAngelis, Jerome Dennis, Peter Dyakowski and Ryan Hinds were on hand at Adelaide Hoodless School this morning to deliver a healthy breakfast snack to students as well as talk about the importance of exercising and maintaining a proper diet.  The players also helped present a cheque to Hamilton Partners in Nutrition for $7,500 to help out with this year’s initiative.

The BeFit program focuses on promoting healthy, active children in Hamilton and will reach over 20,000 students in 50 schools.  Through the BeFit program, Ticats players will continue to visit local schools to help serve a nutritious breakfast and discuss the importance of healthy eating and exercise with students. Each child will be given a booklet that illustrates the benefits of active living.

“The Tiger-Cats are excited to continue the BeFit program and impact local students in a beneficial manner while our players look forward to continuing their responsibilities as positive role models for youth in Hamilton,” said President Scott Mitchell.
