KNOWLTON RECOGNIZED AS CFL MOST OUTSTANDING DEFENSIVE PLAYER
Hamilton, Ontario – The Canadian Football League announced today that linebacker Markeith Knowlton has been named the league’s Most Outstanding Defensive Player. Knowlton was presented with the award at the 2010 CFL Player Awards at the Edmonton Winspear Centre in Edmonton, Alberta.
Knowlton routinely demonstrated his ability to create turnovers this season by leading the league with six fumble recoveries, four forced fumbles and two blocked kicks while also registering three interceptions. The third-year Ticat also recorded 71 defensive tackles, three quarterback sacks and three tackles for a loss. Knowlton was recently named a CFL and East Division All-Star.
Knowlton is the first Ticat to be named the CFL Most Outstanding Defensive Player since Joe Montford in 2001.
