BRUCE, HAGE AND KNOWLTON EARN SPOTS ON CFL ALL-STAR TEAM
Hamilton, Ontario – Earlier today, the Canadian Football League announced the 2010 CFL All-Star team. Three Hamilton Tiger-Cats were honoured, including receiver Arland Bruce III, centre Marwan Hage and linebacker Markeith Knowlton.
Bruce finished his second season as a Ticat with 86 receptions for 1,303 yards and eight touchdowns. He has now been named a CFL All-Star three times.
Hage was the leader on an offensive line that allowed the fewest amount of quarterback sacks in the league and helped running back DeAndra’ Cobb rush for 1,173 yards. This is Hage’s first CFL All-Star honour.
Knowlton registered 71 defensive tackles, three quarterback sacks, three interceptions, three tackles for a loss, four forced fumbles, six fumble recoveries, two blocked kicks and two touchdowns in his third season with the Ticats. This is the second time Knowlton has been named a CFL All-Star.
The All-Stars were selected by fans, Football Reporters of Canada (FRC) and CFL head coaches.
The FRC voting panel consists of representation from each CFL market and a national chapter. In total, 53 members of the FRC voted for this year’s all-stars.
Fans were given the opportunity to have their voice heard through the CFL All-Star Balloting Program presented by The Vancouver Province, Calgary Herald, Edmonton Journal, Leader-Post, The StarPhoenix, National Post and the Montreal Gazette. Nearly half a million votes were cast by CFL fans across the country.
