CALLING ALL FANS: ALL-STAR BALLOTING OPEN AT CFL.ca

It’s time for our fans to help us award one of the most prestigious honours in Canadian sport: a berth on the Canadian Football League all-star team.

“It’s time for the most important people in the CFL, our fans, to help us choose the most accomplished players in the CFL, our 2010 all-stars,” said CFL Commissioner Mark Cohon. “Giving fans a vote in the selection is one way we can recognize their expertise, show our gratitude, and share our passion for Canadian football.”

Balloting for the 2010 CFL All-Stars, presented by The Vancouver Province, Calgary Herald, Edmonton Journal, Leader-Post, The StarPhoenix, National Post and the Montreal Gazette is now open at CFL.ca (www.cflallstars.com).

The biggest challenge is that there are still five games remaining left on the schedule. But fans can start by voting today. Fans are limited to one vote per day and can vote for as many positions as they wish.

Later in the season, the Football Reporters of Canada (FRC) and eight CFL head coaches will add their ballots. The combined votes (weighted 75% for the FRC and coaches and 25% for fans) will determine the East Division and West Division all-star teams.

Then fans, reporters and coaches get a second opportunity to choose from the divisional all-stars to determine the league-wide CFL all-stars, one of the highest honours players can earn.

The 2010 CFL All-Star Program is presented by the participating newspapers of Postmedia Network Inc. and the balloting website was created and designed by Indusblue, a Toronto-based interactive marketing agency.
