After a short walk-through at Stade de Moncton, we returned to our hotel for our final prep meetings. It was good to finally get to our “home stadium” to test out the turf and to visualize creating big plays for our Double Blue fans.
Once our meetings ended linebackers Kevin Eiben and Jason Pottinger, as well as cornerback Willie Middlebrooks and I hit the gym for a quick weight lifting session focused on biceps and triceps that we’ve termed, “The Gun Show”.
The rest of the day was spent watching lots of college football and relaxing in the hotel until 7:00 p.m. Then I had dinner at The Keg with the entire defensive back group to continue the bonding experience.
Some teammates went to the movies, while the Argos offensive and defensive lines, which run the Big Men, Big Hearts program, spent the afternoon visiting people in the oncology unit at a local hospital. Our big guys came back touched by the smiles they were able to create for the folks they met at the hospital.
However, after a week filled with activities, appearances and practices, game day is finally here! The excitement will come to a head today and culminate with two teams fighting for positioning within the CFL divisional races.
Given that we are the official home team, I’m looking forward to a sea of Double Blue in the stands cheering loudly for the Argos, as well as a great battle on the field with the Eskimos!
