Pile: Building leaders in the community

Another beautiful day in Atlantic Canada provided the perfect backdrop to our best practice in a few weeks! The focus, energy and execution were all there and the reality of game week continues to crystallize.

After practice, fellow DB Matt Black and I headed out to two schools in the Moncton area. Accompanying us on these school visits were Argos staff members Eric Holmes and Carlos Ferreira as well as the most popular teammate, our mascot Jason the Argonaut.

The first stop was Beaverbrook School where Matt Black delivered an outstanding presentation on bullying prevention, based on the Argonauts award-winning Huddle Up school program. I visited classrooms within the alternative education program.

The second stop was Birchmount School where an assembly-like setting awaited us. A student leadership group greeted us and Matt and I tag-teamed on a presentation about making positive choices and developing the qualities of a leader.

After the school visits, Matt and I had lunch at the Argonauts headquarters, The Old Triangle, with members of the Argos staff and media.

More and more fans are starting to show up here in Moncton, as well as CFL front office personnel, including Commissioner Mark Cohon. The buzz is definitely here and the game promises to be exciting for everyone involved. But with all the excitement, our focus has and will continue to sharpen as we get closer to game day.

We have another practice at Centennial Park while the main event for tonight is our Argos sponsor party, which should be a good time as well.
