All at the same time?
Rest easy, it’s not some bizarre stadium-sharing ploy by the league, it’s the 12th annual Timbits Minor Football Clinic.
On Wednesday evening 400 kids and their families descended on Ivor Wynne Stadium for an evening of instruction and fun with 14 players from the Ticats and dozens of Minor Football Coaches.
Players like Marwan Hage, DeAndra’ Cobb, Jamall Johnson and Dylan Barker put the players through their paces at different stations throughout the stadium and stuck around to sign some autographs afterwards.
“It’s been fantastic over the years, this is the highlight of the year for these house league players, and the rep kids for that matter,” said Jim Gamble, President of the Hamilton Minor Football Association.
“They can’t wait to get out here with the Ticats and strut their stuff,” he added.
It’s not only the kids who benefit from this clinic, it was obvious that by the end of the first hour the players were getting right into it.
“This just brings you back to the minor football when we were young, they’re enjoying it, we’re enjoying it and everyone’s having lots of fun,” said Ticats safety Dylan Barker.
“All the guys really get into it and the kids just keep getting rowdier until the end when they’re all sad it’s over and we’re sad too,” he said.
This clinic is just another example of the fine work the Ticats do in the community and an amazing opportunity for some future Ticats to meet and work with some of their heroes and for some current Ticats to spend four hours being kids again.
