Q:Do you have any pre-game rituals that you follow?
Matt: I usually just try to relax, watch some film in the morning, get there three hours before the game and go through my stretching routine.
Q: What is your favourite personal football memory?
Matt: I guess winning the Grey Cup in ‘06 or playing in our playoff game here last year, even though we didn’t get the result we wanted.
Q: Who is an athlete you admired growing up?
Matt: I was big into hockey and I was a defenceman so Bobby Orr or Chris Chelios. For football I liked watching middle linebackers, I guess Urlacher is probably my favourite to watch.
Q: What surprised you the most when you got to the CFL?
Matt: The speed of the game. That and the realization that you have to be fully committed mentally and physically. I guess that’s why they call it professional football, because you have to be a professional and put your work in or you’ll be a few steps behind everyone.
Q: If you weren’t playing football where would you be?
Matt: Probably back in Kingston doing construction.
Q: If you could try another position on the field what would it be?
Matt: I’ve been trying to get Coach Gibson to put me in at tight end and let me run some pass patterns but so far, no luck. So I guess tight end.
Q: Do you have a favourite pre-game meal?
Matt: I usually like to have a sub on game day and the night before, I have a big pasta or rice dish.
Q: Whats getting the most play in your ipod or car right now?
Matt: Kingston boys, Tragically Hip. Always.
