Getting To Know…. Samuel Fournier

Fullback Samuel Fournier has shown some outstanding special teams play in his first season in Black and Gold.  Find out a little more about him in the latest Getting to Know….

Q: Do you have any pre-game rituals that you follow?
Samuel:  No not really, just listen to music maybe.

Q: What is your favourite personal football memory?
Samuel:  Winning the Vanier Cup in 2006 and 2008 with Laval.  Maybe 2006 was my favourite because it was my first one, but the second one was special because it was here at Ivor Wynne.

Q: Who is an athlete you admired growing up?
Samuel:  I would say Bruno Epelle, fullback for the Alouettes.  My school was near where they practiced for spring camp and he was a player that was a fullback model for me when I was young.

Q: What surprised you the most when you got to the CFL?
Sam:  Maybe the speed, and the size of the guys.  Not really that much bigger, but more agile and more speed.

Q:  If you weren’t playing football where would you be?
Samuel:  I studied in Physical Education so probably a personal trainer or a coach.  Maybe try to be a firefighter or something like that.  Something where you work in a team.

Q:  If you could try another position on the field what would it be?
Samuel:  Probably linebacker, that’s almost what I do on special teams.  I used to play that position when I was younger, but I like fullback.

Q:  Do you have a favourite pre-game meal?
Samuel:  It used to be my mom’s macaroni salad but now I don’t get it because she’s too far away.  Now I eat whatever, maybe chicken.

Q:  Whats getting the most play in your Ipod or car right now?
Samuel:  Lots of stuff, I like to listen to everything.
