Ticats fans and East Mountain Stadium supporters came out in droves to Carmen’s last night for an East Mountain Stadium Site Information Event, hosted by the Hamilton Tiger-Cats.
The theme of the event was “Learn the Facts, Understand the Opportunities,” giving the 810 people who attended the event a better idea of why the East Mountain Stadium Site is financially sustainable. Each person in attendance was given an information pamphlet, outlining the Tiger-Cats financial commitment to the East Mountain Stadium Site and providing facts as to why the East Mountain Stadium Site is the better choice for Hamilton.

CFL Commissioner Mark Cohon began the evening by giving his support to The Caretaker Bob Young and the Hamilton franchise. He emphasized that with the CFL being a “gate-driven” league, it is important to get this stadium decision right in order to ensure that fans continue to come to Tiger-Cats home games.
Carmen’s owner Peter Mercanti spoke after Cohon, giving his support for the East Mountain Stadium Site. As a Hamilton taxpayer, Mercanti urged Hamilton City Council to make the right decision and not let history repeat itself downtown. He fully endorsed Bob Young and the Tiger-Cats’ plan for both the East Mountain Stadium Site and the Pan Am Park in the West Harbour.
Finally, The Caretaker Bob Young addressed the crowd. He talked about public stadium debates and credited West Harbour supporters for providing a good debate. But Young felt that the most important aspect was making sure that the stadium becomes a good investment and financially viable. Young said that in doing so, it would allow both the Tiger-Cats and the City of Hamilton to be able to make more good investments in the future. The event was capped off with a video about the East Mountain Stadium Site.
