The Ticats offensive starters reunited for the first time since last season’s playoff loss to B.C. on Sunday afternoon, and celebrated by mauling the Winnipeg defence for 247 yards and 20 points in the first half.

The team eventually finished the game with 531 yards of total offence, and put 31 points on the board.

The “O” moved the ball all over the field, led by an impressive first-half performance from Kevin Glenn, who finished the day with 196 yards passing and two touchdowns.

“It being our first game situation, I think we did a great job executing our offence,” said Glenn.

The ball was spread around all game, and four receivers finished the day with five receptions each.

One of those was veteran Dave Stala, who recorded all of his catches in the first half.

“Kevin and I have worked real hard together all through training camp and I know when I hit my landmarks he’s going to get the ball to me,” said Stala.

The receiving corps was led by second–year receiver Drisan James, who is looking to break out this season after coming on strong towards the end of last year.

James caught balls from both Kevin Glenn and Quinton Porter and ended with an impressive 115 yards and a touchdown.

James was quick to credit his teammates for the success he enjoyed all game long.

“I feel like anytime Arland, Cobb and number five are out there, there’s a lot for the defence to worry about and it opens a lot more avenues,” said James.

The receivers weren’t the only ones racking up yardage, and the team’s running backs tried to prove that they can contribute offensively too, finishing the game 160 yards on the ground.

DeAndra’ Cobb looked in mid-season form as he slashed the Winnipeg defense, carrying the ball seven times for 46 yards.

“It was great, we had a lot of fun today and our offence was excited to get back out there together,” said Cobb.  “The line did a great job blocking and I just took what they gave me,” he added.

He was spelled in the second half by Demetris Summers, who picked up where Cobb left off and added 64 yards on five carries, including a 42-yarder in the third quarter, a solid performance for a player auditioning for the role of Cobb’s backup.

While the game won’t count for anything in the win and loss column today, we may have witnessed a glimpse of what the 2010 version of the Ticats offence is capable of.

And we like what we see.
