TICATS INK THREE DRAFT PICKS
Hamilton, Ontario – The Hamilton Tiger-Cats announced today that the team has signed three of their selections from the 2010 CFL Canadian Draft. Fullback Samuel Fournier, kicker/punter Justin Palardy and defensive lineman Eddie Steele will report to rookie camp and practice for the first time this Thursday, June 3.
Fournier, a 6-0, 230-pound native of Lacolle, Quebec was selected in the third round (19th overall) of this year’s Draft. In four years at Laval, he carried the ball 97 times for 621 yards and eight touchdowns while hauling in 14 receptions for 141 yards. Fournier helped Laval capture Vanier Cup championships in 2006 and 2008.
Palardy, a 5-11, 200-pound native of Truro, Nova Scotia holds AUS records for career points (320), field goals (116) and converts (65). During his four-year CIS career at St. Mary’s, he earned a spot on the AUS All-Star team three times as a place kicker and twice as a punter. Palardy was drafted by the Ticats with their fifth round (36th overall) pick.
Steele, a 6-2, 280-pound native of Winnipeg, Manitoba recorded 53.5 tackles and three quarterback sacks in 17 regular season games at Manitoba. He was named a Canada West All-Star and a Second Team CIS All-Canadian in 2009 and helped the Bisons win the 2007 Vanier Cup championship. Steele was drafted in the third round (22nd overall) of the Draft.
