TIGER-CATS ACQUIRE SCHMIDT IN DEAL WITH ARGONAUTS
Hamilton, Ontario – The Hamilton Tiger-Cats announced today that that team has acquired non-import tight end/long snapper Steve Schmidt from the Toronto Argonauts in exchange for a conditional draft pick in the 2012 CFL Canadian Draft.
“Steve is a versatile player who will be given an opportunity to help our team on offence and special teams,” said General Manager Bob O’Billovich.
Schmidt, a 6-4, 232-pound native of Winnipeg, Manitoba played in 31 games over the last two seasons with the Argos after being selected in the fourth round (30th overall) of the 2007 CFL Canadian Draft. The San Diego State product has made 10 special teams tackles and six receptions for 58 yards.
