DeAndra’ Cobb and Dave Stala are hoping that Ticats fans will give them the honour of TigerTown Play of the Year from the 2009 season. To see the two clips and to vote on the championship match, click here.
Cobb’s 48 yard touchdown catch against B.C. in week two was the first play to qualify for the final. Cobb’s play defeated Drisan James’ touchdown catch against Winnipeg in week fifteen, Markeith Knowlton’s interception return for a touchdown against Winnipeg in week ninteen, and Stala’s 69 yard catch and run against Montreal in week sixteen. On Cobb’s touchdown catch, he eluded several Lions defenders on his way to the end zone. The touchdown gave the Ticats a 10 point lead late in the fourth quarter and they hung on for their first win of the season.
Stala’s diving touchdown catch against B.C. in the Eastern Semi-Final demolished the competition on it’s way to the final. The catch received at least 80% of the vote in match-ups against Arland Bruce’s leaping catch against Calgary in week fourteen, Stala’s own diving touchdown catch against Winnipeg in week three, and Bruce’s 49 yard touchdown catch against Saskatchewan in week seven. Stala’s catch against B.C. tied the game at 16-16 early in the third quarter of the Eastern Semi-Final. Kevin Glenn placed a perfect ball between B.C.’s coverage and Stala lunged out to meet it in the end zone.
In the second semi-final, Stala earned his place in the final by defeating Bruce’s 49 yard touchdown catch against Saskatchewan in week seven.
