Dave Stala will look to have a third play in the second round when his diving touchdown catch against B.C. in the Eastern Semi-Final faces Arland Bruce’s 27 yard leaping catch against Calgary in week fourteen as the first round of the TigerTown Play of the Year showdown concludes. Stala brought the Ticats back to a 16-16 tie in the Eastern Semi-Final in front of a loud crowd at Ivor Wynne Stadium. Kevin Glenn threw a ball deep towards the end zone where it was met by a diving Stala. The ball was perfectly thrown as it was placed into an open spot of the field between two Lions defenders.
Bruce used his vertical jump against Calgary for a second time in the 2009 season in week fourteen. Quinton Porter threw a perfectly placed ball to Bruce who was covered by three Stampeder defenders. But Bruce jumped higher than them all and snagged the ball for a 27 yard gain.
In the previous match, Dave Stala’s diving touchdown catch against Winnipeg in week three knocked off Kevin Glenn’s fumble recovery and touchdown pass.
