The Hamilton Tiger-Cats would like to congratulate Rob Stribbell for winning the TigerTown Grey Cup Photo Contest. His photo featured himself and his friends in a boat, posing like several Ticats defensive players who celebrated two interception returns for touchdowns in a fishing boat during the last game of the regular season against the Winnipeg Blue Bombers.
Stribbell (wearing the Ticats jersey with number 33 in the photo), a season seat holder in Box J, traveled to Calgary for the 2009 Grey Cup with his friend Matt (wearing the Ticats jersey with number 28), a season seat holder in Box C. Once there, they met up with a mutual high-school friend Dave (wearing the sweater with TC on the front), who moved to Calgary approximatelty one year ago. Dave’s roommate Joon (wearing the yellow hard hat), is a foreign exchange student from Korea and joined the three Ticats fans in experiencing the CFL for the first time.
While attending the Grey Cup festival, Stribbell and his friends found the Canadian Forces display. The display featured a number of pieces of military equipment, including the boat.
“While we were looking at the display I asked one of the members of the Forces if we could get into the boat for a picture,” Stribbell said. “He said it was not a problem and even offered to take the picture for us.”
Stribbell and his friends climbed into the boat and mimicked one of the Ticats memorable moments from 2009. While it was a great photo for all Ticats fans, a few other fans around the boat while the photo was being taken weren’t as impressed.
“The best part about it was seeing the look on Bombers fans faces as we took it.”
