Four Tiger-Cats Named CFL All-Stars

FOUR TIGER-CATS NAMED CFL ALL-STARS

Hamilton, Ontario – Earlier today, the Canadian Football League announced the 2009 Canadian Football League All-Star team.  The Hamilton Tiger-Cats would like to congratulate WR Arland Bruce III, RT Dan Goodspeed, LB Markeith Knowlton and LB Jamall Johnson for being named CFL All-Stars.

Bruce caught 88 passes for 1,242 yards and 10 touchdowns this season.  Bruce played three games for the Toronto Argonauts before a July 29 trade brought him to Hamilton, where he suited up for 14 games.  This is Bruce’s second CFL All-Star nod.

Goodspeed solidified the right side of the Ticats offensive line after arriving in Hamilton with an off-season trade.  This is the third consecutive season that Goodspeed has been named a CFL All-Star.

Knowlton established himself as one of the league’s premier defenders after finishing the season with 94 defensive tackles, four interceptions, four forced fumbles, four fumble returns, two blocked kicks, two tackles for losses, three pass knockdowns, one quarterback sacks and two touchdowns.

Johnson led all CFL players with 108 defensive tackles while also tallying two quarterback sacks, nine special teams tackles, two forced fumbles, three tackles for a loss and one pass knockdown.

The all-stars were selected by 55 voting members, including representation from the Football Reporters of Canada (FRC) and CFL head coaches, and fans from across the country.

Fans were given the opportunity to have their voice heard through the CFL.ca All-Star Balloting Program where nearly half of a million player votes were cast.

The FRC voting panel consists of representation from each CFL market and a national chapter.
