Question
In the Saskatchewan vs. Edmonton game it appeared that Weston Dressler had a reception for a first down with about one minute to play in the game, but the play was ruled incomplete. Why was there no stoppage in play for a review from the CFL’s Command Centre?
Answer
During the final three minutes of the fourth quarter, any replay review must be initiated by the CFL Replay Official. Coaches cannot challenge a ruling during this time.
On this play, the Replay Official did not request an official replay review. He did review the play and concluded that a stoppage in play was not required because the correct call was made on the field.
If the play required further review, or if the Replay Official saw that the call on the field should have been overturned, he would have notified the referee and an official review would have followed.
