HAMILTON, Ont. — Kevin Glenn threw two touchdowns Sunday as the Hamilton Tiger-Cats used a strong second quarter to beat the Winnipeg Blue Bombers 38-20 in exhibition play.

Glenn completed 16 of 26 passes for 196 yards in his half of work.

He connected with Marquay McDaniel and Arland Bruce III for touchdowns before giving way to Quinton Porter in the second half.

William Heyward and Drisan James also scored touchdowns for Hamilton while Terence Jeffers-Harris and Cory Watson each found the end zone for Winnipeg.

The Ticats and Bombers open the regular season against one another at Canad Inns Stadium on July 2. Winnipeg will be sporting a new head coach in Paul LaPolice and a new starting quarterback in Buck Pierce, who looked impressive in a pre-season win over Montreal but couldn’t get much going against Hamilton on Sunday.

He completed two of three attempts for 16 yards and only recorded one first down, early in the second quarter, before being replaced by Steven Jyles. In little more than a quarter of play, Jyles completed nine of 14 attempts for 152 yards and one TD.

Alex Brink and Adam DiMichele each took snaps for Winnipeg in the second quarter.

Porter finished with 104 yards for the Ticats by completing five of 11 passes — throwing one TD and one interception. He was replaced by Adam Tafralis with less than six minutes left in the game.

Hamilton kicker Sandro DeAngelis, signed as a free agent in the off-season, hit three of four field-goal attempts — making kicks of 33, 24 and 43 yards. Winnipeg’s Alexis Serna scored from nine and 35 yards, but missed from 45.
