– The team was met with their first sign of inclement weather on Saturday, as the team began practice in the rain. The moderate rain shower would later be reduced to a slight drizzle by the end of practice. The weather had held up perfectly up to this point.
– Practice began with another player deleted from the roster. Import receiver Johnnie Morant was released this morning, a day after the Ticats cut seven other players. Morant had missed a handful of days due to a minor injury.
– DBs Chris Thompson, Geoff Tisdale and Ray Wladichuk all made interceptions today. Thompson and Tisdale’s showed off each player’s athleticism, while Wladichuk was able to grab a tipped ball in the end zone during skelly.
– WR Dave Stala displayed his sure hands today. The first-year Ticat made several nice grabs including a leaping catch with one hand during one-on-ones with defensive backs.
– The import tailbacks enjoyed a great day of practice today. Terry Caulley, DeAndra’ Cobb and Tre Smith each ripped off big gains during team drills.
– DL Garrett McIntyre, who was re-added to the roster yesterday after being injured during rookie camp, demonstrated that he has the ability to get off the edge in a hurry. He should get a lot of reps at defensive end in Tuesday’s pre-season game against Toronto.
– Things got a little intense after WR Chris Davis was sandwiched by DB Jykine Bradley and S Ray Wladichuk in the middle of the field during team drills. Davis got in Wladichuk’s face, but no punches were thrown and the drills quickly resumed without any further confrontations.
– The two youngest quarterbacks, Adam Tafralis and Jason Boltus, remained on the field after practice had ended to continue to work on their throws. WRs Prechae Rodriguez and Jacob Willis stuck around with the two pivots.
