The Tiger-Cats spent about two hours on the field today before heading to the gym for a lifting session. The great weather the team has experienced through camp continued, and practices are still being conducted with a tremendous amount of energy…
– Another new face at camp today: defensive lineman Khari Long. Long takes the roster spot of offensive tackle Todd Londot, who was released early Friday morning.
– The special teams unit spent a considerable amount of time working on their onside kick formations. The receiving team was able to fend off the kicking team for all but one onside kick attempt, which was corralled by defensive back Chris Thompson.
– Players observing practice today: OT Alexandre Gauthier, DB Sandy Beveridge, RB Kenton Keith, WR Chris Bauman and DL Scott McCuaig. Keith continued to work on his agility and jogged down the sidelines during practice.
– Defensive linemen Justin Hickman and Mike McFadden were able to generate some pressure on opposing quarterbacks during team drills. Free agent acquisition Brendan Guillory was also able to get to QB Adam Tafralis during team drills.
– Nick Setta hit each of his three attempted field goals during the first ‘fire’ period this morning. All three attempts were from at least 45 yards out.
– After an impressive run by RB Guillaume Allard-Cameus during inside run drills, offensive coordinator Mike Gibson singled out OL Cedric Gagne-Marcoux and FB Darcy Brown for their effective blocking.
– Another day, another impressive catch by WR David Ball. This one came as the New Hampshire product outjumped DB Desman Stephen along the sideline. WR Airese Currie also made a great play, adjusting during his route to haul in an underthrown pass.
– DB Alan Zemaitis registered the only interception during team drills.
– Adam Tafralis made a slick shovel pass on a broken play to WR Chris Davis, which the second-year Ticat took for a 20-yard gain.
– The intensity will be taken up a notch tomorrow, as fans are invited to the team’s annual Black and Gold at McMaster University’s Ron Joyce Stadium. Caretaker Bob Young will be in the house, head coach Marcel Bellefeuille will be mic’d up and the team will take part in an autograph session on the field following the scrimmage, which begins at 12:30 p.m.
– The Tiger-Cats communications staff will also be active on Twitter throughout training camp, giving fans an insider’s view of what is transpiring on the field and behind-the-scenes as it happens. Follow @TicatsPR for updates from camp and @CFLTigerCats for the team’s news feed.
