The Tiger-Cats completed their fifth day of training camp on Thursday…
– RB Kenton Keith was seen working on agility drills prior to practice. Encouraging news for fans of the talented running back, who left Day 1’s practice early after twisting his knee during inside run drills.
– LB Cameron Siskowic returned to practice for the first time since Day 1, increasing the level of competition at middle linebacker. The Illinois State product started three games last season.
– A pair of scouts for the Chicago Bears observed practice from the stands at Ron Joyce Stadium.
– Players returning kicks during kickoff coverage drills included Tre Smith, DeAndra’ Cobb, Airese Currie, Terry Caulley, LaShaun Ward and newcomer Cody Williams.
– Safety Sean Manning made another interception after tracking down a QB Quinton Porter pass. By the unofficial Ticats Confidential tally, Manning has made five interceptions through five practices.
– Dave Stala demonstrated his versatility on Thursday. During team drills, he was able to get open regularly and make receptions. Following his turn as a receiver, he took over punting duties and launched several punts in the 50-yard range. He also connected on a few field goals from 37 yards out.
– Two of the Ticats late-round picks from the 2009 CFL Canadian Draft are receiving high praise from team brass. Fifth rounder Raymond Wladichuk and sixth-rounder Cassidy Doneff have carried the momentum they began in rookie camp into main camp with the veterans. Not bad for the 38th and 41st players selected.
