Hamilton, Ontario – The Hamilton Tiger-Cats announced today that two former Canadian Football League players will be joining their coaching staff, as Joe Hagins has been named the team’s Defensive Assistant/Safeties while Travis Moore has been named the team’s Offensive Assistant/Running Backs.
“I am pleased to announce the hiring of these two fine, young coaches,” said head coach Marcel Bellefeuille. “This move is mutually beneficial as it allows the Ticats to add two quality individuals to our organization while providing Joe and Travis the opportunity to gain valuable experience as members of a professional coaching staff.”
Hagins has spent the past three seasons on the coaching staff at the University of Guelph, working with the Gryphons’ wide receivers for two seasons, their outside linebackers for one season, and their special teams unit for all three. Hagins played three seasons (1998-2000) with the Ticats, helping the Black and Gold capture a Grey Cup in 1999.
Moore ended a stellar 11-year CFL career in 2005 after recording 645 receptions for 9,930 yards and 79 touchdowns with the Calgary Stampeders and Saskatchewan Roughriders. After hanging up his cleats, Moore spent one season as a receivers coach with the Arena Football League’s New Orleans Voodoo and has also served as a training camp coach with the Montreal Alouettes and the NFL’s New Orleans Saints.
The Ticats also announced that the team has released import receiver Earnest Jackson, non-import defensive end Adam Kania and import defensive end Dominic Lewis.
