“I’m in love with the number eight, and I really wanted the number eight, but when I came into camp I couldn’t get that number, so I just put a number one in front of it and took the 18. Eight was actually my first number when I started playing sports, it was my teeball number, plus I’m born on April 8. I stick by the eight, I keep the eight ball with me, even if it’s in 18.”

Chris Thompson

“That’s the number they assigned to me when I first got here. I’m 26 years old so maybe that’s something there, but as far as having significance behind a number, I don’t really have one. I’ve had a lot of numbers in my career. My favourite number is 23, I had that in high school and college. Growing up I was a big Michael Jordan fan and it just carried over to football.”

“I’ve had them all. My first year playing football I wore two, then I wore nine for a couple years, then I wore 17, then 21, and now three. Actually, 21 is my lucky number, but I never wanted to wear 21 because I felt like if I wore it, I didn’t want someone else wearing it after me making it look bad (laughs). So I waited till my senior year in college. I felt like it was my last year and I didn’t know what was going to happen after that as far as my football career went and I put 21 on and went out with a bang. When I ended up in Hamilton I kind of wanted 21, but I ended up with three and I’m cool with that. I mean, it looks good on me (laughs), so I’m not complaining.”
