Hamilton, Ontario – The Hamilton Tiger-Cats and Winnipeg Blue Bombers will renew their East Division battle in the annual Canadian Football Hall of Fame Game this Friday, September 19, 2008 at Ivor Wynne Stadium.
The new class of inductees, featuring Doug Flutie, Mike “Pinball” Clemons, Mike Pringle, John Bonk, and Tom Shepherd, will be in the Pepsi pre-game area prior to kickoff between 5:30 p.m. and 6:30 p.m. for a jacket presentation and autograph session, and will see their Hall of Fame busts unveiled at halftime.
“The Hall of Fame Game is a special night for our game, an opportunity to honour our legends and watch today’s stars at the same time,” said CFL Commissioner Mark Cohon. “It’s really a celebration of our league, our legacy, and our future.”
In addition to the Hall of Fame festivities, the Ticats are encouraging fans in attendance to blackout the stadium, by wearing black clothes as they fill the seats. The black out theme will be evident throughout the stadium with the team donning black jerseys and black pants, while the ArcelorMittal Dofasco Tigervision and Gameday Lineup covers take on a new look.
The first 10,000 fans that enter the gates at Ivor Wynne will receive a free pair of black thundersticks courtesy of Burgeonvest Bick to help cheer on the Ticats. Black merchandise will be readily available at discounted prices at any of the merchandise booths located within Ivor Wynne.
Fans will also have a chance to see the items available in the TigerTown Hall of Fame Jersey Auction, which will be on display as well, with all proceeds benefiting the Canadian Football Hall of Fame.
