What’s In A Number: Loescher/Collins/Patrick/Lewis

#9

Nautyn McKay-Loescher

Defensive End

“Lucky number nine. I’m born on the ninth day of the month. My son is also born on the ninth day of the month and in the year 1999. My wife’s born in the ninth month. I got married in the ninth month. It’s a reoccurring number in my life.”

#98

Tory Collins

Defensive Line

“I always had number 55 growing up, because my mom was born in 1955. I’ve been playing with that number throughout high school right into college. That’s one of my favourite numbers, but playing defense in the big leagues it’s time for a nineties number. I wanted to get 98 to make a name for myself. Maybe one day this jersey will be worth something.”

#94

Terrence Patrick

Defensive Line

“Absolutely no significance to it. That’s the number they gave me. When I was in Calgary I had 93, and there wasn’t any reason for that either, it was the number the gave me there. When I got to Hamilton, they asked me if I wanted to keep 93, but I felt it was time for a change. In college I was number nine, so I guess I’ve had nine on my jersey in some way the entire time, but there is no significance behind any of them. The number doesn’t make the player.”

#91

Dominic Lewis

Defensive Line

“In college I was number 20 because I started out playing running back, then I switched to D-line. I was 20 in high school as well. I liked 20 a lot because of Barry Sanders. There is no real reason for number 91, being a rookie I just took the jersey I was given.”
