In 1967, Coffey joined the Hamilton Tiger-Cats for the first of his six seasons. In his first year in Black and Gold, Hamilton won their fifth Grey Cup Championship in franchise history. The seven-time All-Canadian Offensive End (1962, 1964-1968, 1970), also helped the Cats to a Grey Cup victory in 1972. During his time in TigerTown, Coffey caught 261 passes for 4,167 yards and 35 touchdowns. Tommy-Joe was inducted into the CFL Hall of Fame in 1977.

In 1960, Kelly joined the Hamilton Tiger-Cats after one season with New York Giants. During his 11 seasons with the Tabbies, the team enjoyed continued success, finishing first in the Eastern Conferences seven times and winning three Grey Cups. He was named an All-Canadian Tackle in 1969 and 1970, but perhaps the most impressive stat of all was that he never missed a game in his career with the Ticats or the Argos, playing in 175 consecutive regular season contests. Ellison was inducted into the CFL Hall of Fame in 1992.
