Montford was a menace to opposing quarterbacks during his time with the Cats, including Damon Allen (see photo above). He was a four-time CFL sack leader, three-time winner of the CFL’s Most Outstanding Defensive Player Award, and a five-time CFL All-Star. He was also a key contributor to the Ticats Grey Cup winning team in 1999, posting 26.5 sacks, only a half a sack short of the single season record. Considered by many to be one of the most devastating defensive players in the history of the league, Montford was voted one of the CFL’s Top 50 players (#40) of the modern era by TSN.

Allen made his Labour Day mark more so as an Argo than as a Ticat. He became professional football’s all-time leading passer as a member of the Argos with 72,381 passing yards during the Labour Day Classic two years ago, moving ahead of the great Warren Moon. He also sits third in the CFL’s all-time rushing list with 11,920 rushing yards, behind only Mike Pringle and George Reed. Despite his storied career, he made the CFL All-Star team only once in 2005, the same year he was the CFL Most Outstanding Player. Allen currently resides in Oakville, a middle ground between Argoland and TigerTown.
The All-Rivalry Team stars will be in attendance for the Labour Day Classic and many exciting events leading up to the game, including a pre-game autograph session on Monday, September 1 from 5:30 p.m. – 6:30 p.m. You can still get your tickets for the Labour Day Classic by calling Ticats Ticket Central at 905.547.2287.
