What’s In A Number: Miles/Dickerson/Cavka

Tony Miles
Wide Receiver
“Number two comes from my second go around with the Cats. I have two kids. Two is a nice even number and all even numbers come from two. It’s the base of a lot of stuff. I like to be the base. And I mean, it looks good.”

Kori Dickerson
Defensive End
“In 2006, I got released from Detroit and I felt like I was done with football, I was tired of the runaround, I was tired of the politics, I didn’t think I was getting a fair chance to shine. I ended up coming home and my cousin was playing semi-pro ball and he asked me to come out with him, so I started playing semi-pro football and the coach asked me what number I wanted and I said single digits, so he told me he had two and zero. I thought zero was different, so I went with it. I ended up winning MVP of the league, I had like 25 sacks in 11 games or something like that. After that I signed with Hamilton and when I saw my name on the roster there was a zero next to it, because I hadn’t picked my number yet. So I called and asked if I could wear that for the season, and zero was born.”

Marko Cavka
Offensive Lineman
“When I got here I didn’t know 77 was a defensive back number. I wanted 77 or 73 , so obviously 60 was the next logical number (Laughs). All through high school I was 77 or 73. I chose them because I thought they looked good. It all comes down to that, people pick numbers because they like the way it looks on them.”
