Ticats quarterback Richie Williams grew up trying to be like the great Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Randall Cunningham. Sure enough Richie has been able to emulate his style as a QB who can tear through defences through the air and on the ground, but there’s another man born and raised in West Philadelphia that bares a striking resemblance to Mr. Williams.
Richie Williams – Will Smith
It’s a comparison that Richie gets teased about all the time, and his reaction is always the same. “Stop that,” he says with a smile.
Until now I hadn’t put much thought into players who may have celebrity look-alikes, but in order to help Richie out and take a little of the heat off of him, let’s see if there are any other Tabbies clones out there.
It’s his first year starting in the CFL, but prior to his football career Ray Mariuz was on the big screen in such films as the Titanic and Zoolander.
It used to be Nick Kordic in the middle of the secondary, where he tried out last year, but this season he’s moved into the linebacking corps.
Nick Kordic – Frankie Muniz
In his second-year starting on the Ticats offensive line, Cedric Gagne-Marcoux may not be the King of Queens but he’s on his way to being the King of Hamilton.

Nautyn McKay-Loescher did get into a scuffle during this year’s training camp, but he’s not ready for the UFC just yet.

While he may be more used to catching bombs on the field than throwing them in the ring, Jo Jo Walker may have found his double in a young version of this boxer, who has since packed on the pounds.
Jo Jo Walker – James Toney
And finally, not to pick on the equipment manager, but R.J. James is definitely a spitting image of the star of the 1993 movie, Rookie Of The Year.

There you go Richie, a little ammunition to fight back with.
Easier Said Than Done
(Quote of the Week)
“I’m not retiring, but I’d be surprised to get a call from anyone.”
Former Blue Bombers kicker Troy Westwood, who was released by Winnipeg over the weekend. The 41-year old spent 17 seasons with the Bombers, and seems to be a little hesitant to file his retirement papers, even though it’s unlikely he’ll be given a look by another club.
In Case You Blinked
(News from the Week)
The CFL pre-season doesn’t get a lot of press, so if you didn’t catch the Calgary Stampeders game against the Edmonton Eskimos last Friday, don’t feel bad. What you missed was the complete demolition of the Esks, who were down 39-0 in the fourth quarter before they broke the shutout with a 92-yard kickoff return. The final score of 39-14 was generous believe it or not. I guess all the scrappiness in Edmonton’s training camp isn’t paying off just yet.
My Favourite TigerTown Moment
If you haven’t already, be sure to get your best Tiger-Cats memory in before the contest closes June 30, 2008.
