Hamilton, Ontario – The Hamilton Tiger-Cats announced today the signing of import quarterback Chris Leak.
“We consider Chris to be a great CFL quarterback prospect,” said general manager Bob O’Billovich. “We believe that Chris’ style of play is suited for this league. He has accomplished some great things in his career and we’re excited to see what he can do for the Ticats.”
Leak, a 6-0, 207-pound native of Charlotte, North Carolina played four seasons (2003-06) at Florida, setting school records for all-time pass attempts (1,458), completions (895), passing yards (11,213), total offense (11,350) and 200-yard passing games (33) while adding 88 touchdown passes in 51 games. The 23-year-old led the Gators to a 13-1 record and a BCS National Championship in 2007, earning the championship game’s offensive MVP award.
Leak signed with the NFL’s Chicago Bears last season and attended training camp before being waived on September 1.
