Ticats Training Camp Ready To Roar

Hamilton, Ontario – The Hamilton Tiger-Cats will wrap up rookie camp and begin 2008 Ticats Training Camp presented by Nutribar when they hit the field for their first practice on Sunday, June 1.

“There’s been a lot of excitement, energy and long hours put into preparing this team for training camp and now it has finally arrived,” said general manager Bob O’Billovich. “The rookies have been going through practices for the last couple of days and are understanding what it takes to play this game at this level. We have a lot of talented players here this year and the competition for spots is going to make our team much better this season and for the future.”

Over the past three seasons (2005-07), the Ticats have held their training camp on the grounds of McMaster University. During that time the university added the David Braley Athletic Centre, which was completed in 2006, Alumni Field which the team practiced on during the past two years (2006-07) and most recently the brand new Ronald V. Joyce Stadium which will be used all practices and scrimmages during camp.

“We are very fortunate to continue our partnership and have our training camp here at McMaster,” said president Scott Mitchell. “With all of the upgrades, renovations and construction of a new football field and athletic facility, our team is now training at one of the premier sports facilities in Canada, which is sure to benefit our team’s preparation and conditioning. Our fans in TigerTown are invited to come out and watch as our team prepares for the 2008 season and the pursuit of a 16th Grey Cup championship.”

Any season ticket holders wishing to attend practice will be able to park on the grounds of McMaster University for free. Proof of season ticket purchase must be presented to the parking kiosk staff upon your arrival. Any other fans interested in attending practice will be offered a reduced parking rate of $10.00.

Ticats training camp will kickoff on Sunday, June 1 when the team takes to Ronald V. Joyce Stadium for its first two-a-day practice from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 am followed by the afternoon practice from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. For a full training camp schedule and daily updated roster, visit www.ticats.ca.
