Q: Once your season ended, did you do anything special to prepare for last month’s Evaluation Camp?
Stephenson: Months and months of training. I knew what to expect coming in, my agent and trainer really got me ready for it. I also talked to a couple players who had been here, so I was really ready for it and I knew almost everything that was going to happen. A lot of it is psychological though. In the back of my head I knew that I prepared for it and I shouldn’t be worried because I just needed to go out there and get it done, which I think I did.
Q: You held your own stats-wise at the combine, how did you do in the interviews with teams?
Stephenson: I interviewed with five teams and they all went pretty well. They ask you basic questions like if you’ve been in trouble and that sort of stuff. Then a little bit about your personal life, what you like to do and also what you expect to do in the CFL.
Q: Did you ever get in trouble growing up? What were you like as a kid?
Stephenson: Just always playing sports, mostly football. I was a very active kid. I didn’t really get into too much trouble, I was pretty good.
Q: What’s something fans might not know about you?
Stephenson: I can catch really well. I’m not just going to be a guy that’s going to come in there and run the ball, I’m going to get out and catch the ball and help the team any way I can.
Q: Do you have a favourite player of all-time?
Stephenson: My favourite CFL player had to be Eric Lapointe. I liked watching him and he actually came down and helped me by coaching me. His old coach in university is our athletic director, so he talked to him and got him to come down and work with us for a while. I looked up to him a lot.
Q: Lapointe was selected in the third round of the 1999 CFL draft. Do you have any idea where you might go in this year’s draft on Wednesday?
Stephenson: On draft day it’s kind of all up in the air, hopefully I go high but if I don’t it’s not the end of the world. It’s all about going to a team, going to camp and proving yourself there. So, I’m not too worried about where I go, it’s when I get there that matters.
