Q: There are only a few weeks left until the draft, do you have any idea where you might be taken?
St. Pierre: My agent tells me some positive stuff, but really I can’t control it. My goal has just been up to this point focusing on the Evaluation Camp, and now my focus is on training camp. I don’t where it’s going to be, I don’t know how the draft is going to work out, but my idea is that if I put the work in now, it’s going to take care of itself.
Q: How are you spending your time between now and the draft?
St. Pierre: I’m going to be home with the family. I moved from Halifax back to Hamilton, with all my family and I’m just going to hang out and hopefully things go well.
Q: What was it like growing up in the Hammer?
St. Pierre: I have the same story as everybody else from Hamilton probably, just proud to be from there, Steel City. I’m trying to represent all those qualities that we’re known for and respect my family name and respect my city.
Q: What was Tim St. Pierre like as a kid?
St. Pierre: I was always in sports. Typical stuff like that. I wasn’t perfect growing up, trouble here and there, but I’ve had great mentors, and great coaches steer me in the right direction, and now hopefully things are going to work out.
Q: What’s something fans might be surprised to find out about you?
St. Pierre: Well… I was a World Champion Kickboxer, I went to the Czech Republic and Vienna, Austria to compete. That was a love of mine that I had to give up when I went to University to play football. I trained out of Hamilton and traveled all over the world. It was a great experience.
Q: How did you get into that?
St. Pierre: When I was really young eight or nine, I got into karate, started to like that and go more and more. I got into kickboxing and competing all around Hamilton and Toronto and it just grew to the point I was lucky enough to go and compete around the world.
Q: What are you going to miss the most from your time at St. Mary’s?
St. Pierre: My teammates. Guys from all over the country, guys from out West. I’ve never been out West myself but they have all their stories. We had a lot of guys from Hamilton, Toronto, and Nova Scotia out there. It’s just great to interact and build a family with those guys. I’ll miss them the most.
Q: Do you have any pre-game rituals?
St. Pierre: Well, music, early in the day. I learned over the years not to get too jacked up early in the morning when you first get up because you just get tired. I like a little country music in the morning, it relaxes me, then right before the game the hard rock heavy metal kind of stuff.
Q: Who is the best player you faced in college?
St. Pierre: Andrew Hamilton at Concordia was the best running back I played against. He gave us a lot of trouble. I think he’s with Montreal now. There has been a lot of great players. We played Matt Henry in the Vanier Cup, unfortunately he got hurt, but he gave us some fits in the first quarter, he was an unreal athlete. There are a lot of great players around the country.
Q: Who would you compared yourself to out of players already in the league?
St. Pierre: I really like to see Kevin Eiben play. We’re somewhat similar in build, and he has great range of motion and everything, so I hope that’s what I can bring to the table as well some day.
Q: Are you really excited to hear your name be called on draft day?
St. Pierre: For sure. The sense I’ve got is that I worked as hard as possible to get here, I was focused on here, and I’ve put all the work in now. I think the draft is just going to take care of itself. My focus is just going to go straight to training camp, wherever that may be.
