My Off-Season – George Hudson

Q: So what has Mr. Hudson been up to since the end of the season?

“My family and I went down to New Mexico for three weeks. It was a lot of fun. I got to repo some cars again, get back into the old business. I got about 10 cars while I was down there. Hung out with the family, and spent time with my wife’s parents. Having my father-in-law play with my son was good times, he was loving playing with grandpa.”

Q: How is your water-purification company up here coming along?

“Really good. I’m just trying to get it up and running. We sell purification systems for your house, as well as a lot of commercial applications, agriculture stuff, you name it. Coupled with that we’re also doing our own water delivery service, and our own water line, which is ionized, oxidized water. It’s ECOsmart Water Systems. We haven’t launched our new website yet, but you can check us out online.”

Q: Is there anything you get to do in the off-season that you don’t get a chance to during the football year?

“Work on the business is one. I didn’t get to do that at all during the season. I just wanted to concentrate on football and getting my knee rehabbed and back into shape. So believe or not, I was really happy to get into the off-season business stuff.”

Q: How is the knee doing?

“Great. I went and played squash recently against my brother. I kicked his butt, (laughs). He’s actually not that strong of a squash player so it wasn’t that big of a deal. But everything is good with it, I’m really happy with how it’s coming, and how it’s feeling.”

Q: Did you have a chance to rest up your body?

“I did and I’ll tell you what, I didn’t feel any better. I was missing working out, I just felt bad. I’ll never do that again. I worked out a little bit but not hard enough. So it’s full steam ahead now.”

Q: Did you have a favourite bowl game over the holidays?

“I’m not much of a bowl fan. I did watch the Hawaii vs. Georgia game, and you know what, Georgia was just too damn fast for Hawaii, they couldn’t do anything and the poor tackles were just getting it handed to them all day long. As an O-lineman myself, it was just hard to watch. They got killed.”

Q: There are a lot of changes again this year with the team as far as coaching staff, do you think about that at all in the off-season, or is that something you wait and approach at training camp?

“For me football is football. It’s just different names depending on who the coach is. It’s nothing different. I’m excited that we have some CFL experience now at the coordinator spots though.”
