Hamilton, Ontario – The Hamilton Tiger-Cats announced today that the team has signed import quarterback and former CFL Most Outstanding Player Casey Printers.
Printers, a 6-2, 222-pound native of DeSoto, Texas, led the B.C. Lions to the 2004 Grey Cup after completing 325 of 494 pass attempts for 5,088 yards and 35 touchdowns and rushing 82 times for 469 yards and nine touchdowns in 18 regular season games. He was named a West Division and CFL All-Star and captured the league’s Most Outstanding Player award for his accomplishments that season.
Printers began his CFL career with B.C. in 2003. In 50 career CFL games, the 26-year-old completed 457 of 712 pass attempts for 6,763 passing yards and 45 touchdowns while carrying the ball 122 times for 849 yards and 11 touchdowns.
The Florida A&M product signed with the NFL’s Kansas City Chiefs on January 13, 2006 and spent a majority of the 2006 season on the Chiefs practice roster. Printers attended the Chiefs’ training camp last month and was released on September 1.
Prior to turning pro, Printers played one season at Florida A&M after spending three years at TCU. In his lone season at the helm of Florida A&M’s offence, Printers completed 123 of 218 passes for 1,517 yards with 12 touchdowns while adding three rushing touchdowns. In his three seasons at TCU, he connected on 324 of 578 throws for 4,622 yards with 37 touchdowns and was named the MVP of the 1999 Mobile Alabama Bowl.
