Lumsden Earns Offensive and Canadian Awards Again

Hamilton, Ontario – The Hamilton Tiger-Cats would like to congratulate running back Jesse Lumsden for being named the Canadian Football League’s Offensive Player of the Week and Canadian Player of the Week after his outstanding effort against the Winnipeg Blue Bombers last Friday.

Lumsden was a dominant force for the duration of the Ticats 43-22 win, recording 211 rushing yards and two touchdowns on just 12 carries (17.6 avg). The McMaster product began his evening with a 69 yard touchdown run on the Ticats first play from scrimmage then finished his night with a 75 yard run for a major in the fourth quarter. He also made two receptions for 16 yards.

This is the second time Lumsden has earned CFL Offensive and Canadian Player of the Week honours this season, as the 6-2, 226-pound running back earned similar accolades for his effort in Week 4.

Ticats linebackers Jojuan Armour and Zeke Moreno were each named a runner-up for the CFL’s Defensive Player of the Week award.

Lumsden, Armour, Moreno and the rest of the Ticats travel to Edmonton to take on the Eskimos at Commonwealth Stadium this Saturday at 9:30 p.m. ET.
