Hamilton, Ontario – The Hamilton Tiger-Cats announced today that the team has signed signed four more picks from its 2007 Draft class; receiver Chris Getzlaf, defensive back Nick Kordic, defensive lineman Michael Goncalves and defensive end Adam Kania. All four will attend training camp with the Tiger-Cats next week.
“We were extremely happy with the way our draft turned out this year,” said Ticats GM Marcel Desjardins. “Drafting well is obviously important, but even more important is getting these players under contract to help our team now or in the coming years.”
Getzlaf, a 6-0, 208-pound native of Regina, Saskatchewan was selected by the Ticats in the fifth round (33rd overall). In two seasons with Regina, the 24-year-old recorded 73 receptions for 1,286 yards and 11 touchdowns. He was named a first team All-Canadian and a Canada West All-Star last season.
Kordic, a 6-0, 210-pound product of Western Ontario was tabbed by the Ticats with their second pick in the fifth round (36th overall). The Toronto native racked up 42 total tackles (9 solo) and three interceptions with the Mustangs in 2006.
Goncalves, a 6-0, 245-pound native of Toronto was the Black and Gold’s sixth round selection (41st overall). Last season, the 25-year-old made 10.5 tackles (8 solo) and two quarterback sacks in four games.
Kania was the Cats’ second sixth round (43rd overall) selection. The 6-4, 266-pound defensive end played 31 games in four seasons at St. Francis Xavier, making 105 total tackles (88 solo), two forced fumbles, and 12.5 quarterback sacks. The Toronto native was named to the AUS All-Star team twice. He is 22.
